Privacy Policy

We collect information you provide directly (like your email and profile details), information generated by your use of Ayeo (like conversations and uploaded materials), and limited technical information needed to operate the service securely. The sections below describe each category in more detail.

When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google (such as your name and email) as permitted by the sign-in scopes you approve. We use this to create and secure your account and to personalize your experience.

During onboarding, we ask for your full name so Ayeo can address you personally. If we ask for anything further about your context or goals, we will be clear about what it’s used for and will not require more than a short answer.

This includes the materials you upload (documents, PDFs, notes, slides), the questions you ask Ayeo, and the conversations, flashcards, quizzes, and other content generated as you use the service. We store this content so you can return to it later, and so Ayeo can use it to give you relevant, context-aware responses.

We collect limited technical data needed to run Ayeo securely and reliably, such as login session information, device and browser type, and basic request logs. We use this to detect abuse, keep accounts secure, and diagnose problems — not to build an advertising profile of you.

We use the information above to:

• Operate Ayeo — for example, generating explanations or flashcards from your materials;
• Maintain your account and session security;
• Communicate with you, such as sending a one-time verification code;
• Improve the product; and
• Comply with legal obligations.

To generate explanations, summaries, flashcards, quiz questions, and conversational responses, Ayeo sends relevant parts of your questions and materials to third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Google’s Gemini, or DeepSeek, depending on which model is powering a given request).

We do not use your content to train our own AI models. Data sent to these providers is subject to that provider’s own data-handling terms as an API customer, which is typically more restrictive than their consumer products — but we encourage you to review each provider’s own policy if you want the full picture of how they handle API data. This is an area we expect to keep this policy updated on as our AI provider relationships evolve.

When you upload a document, Ayeo processes it to extract and index its content (including, where needed, optical character recognition for scanned documents) so it can be searched, summarized, and referenced in future conversations. Extracted content is stored in our database to power these features.

We do not sell or share your uploaded documents with third parties, except the AI and infrastructure providers necessary to operate the features described in this policy.

We work with a small number of service providers to operate Ayeo, including:

• AI model providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek) for generating AI Output;
• Google, for account sign-in;
• Resend, for sending transactional emails like OTP verification codes; and
• Paystack, for processing payments on paid plans.

Each provider only receives the information necessary to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy and security practices.

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure, password-free authentication (one-time codes and OAuth rather than stored passwords). No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk on an ongoing basis.

We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active, so you can continue using Ayeo without losing your history. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information and content within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights by contacting privacy@ayeo.name.ng — we will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity first.

Ayeo uses essential cookies to keep you signed in securely (for example, to store your session tokens) and may use limited technical storage to remember basic preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Ayeo is not directed at children under the age required to consent to a service like this in their jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has created an account without appropriate consent, contact us at privacy@ayeo.name.ng and we will take appropriate action.

Ayeo and the third-party providers we use may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer as part of their own compliance obligations, and we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be protected consistent with this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ayeo evolves, particularly as we add new features or work with new service providers. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and where changes are material we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.
